Being away from the studio has definitely presented its challenges. My emotional location is there. I miss lounging on the couch, Grace Mead's song selections, the productive silence that sets in as we all get to work. Some of my best memories have been made at Tabor in the spring, so I am especially sad to be missing my last of those special times. I am mourning.
Positively though, extra time has allowed me to be creatively charged. My work has shifted from requiring more "advanced" materials, such as gesso, canvas, and my beloved glitter Modge Podge to more common products such as acrylic paint, thick printer paper, and paint brushes quite past their prime. Using these materials have made me nostalgic, reminiscing upon some of the first memories I have of art. To respect this, I decided to revisit some of my old peices from my elementary sketchbook. This is where the idea of the peach is drawn from. Using the skills of collaging and layering I learned in Smitty's stdio (along with a little digital help to compensate for my lack glitter) I created this final piece.
